I would hope that needs have already been identified by year seven but I think a reading/spelling test is a good benchmark – get an online one, more expensive but does the admin for you. GL Assessments sell a good paclage that includes these and also a basic SpLD screener.

Of course the data from these assessments alone shouldn’t be the be all and end allof identification in your setting, code of practice gives some guidance on identification.
