I work in a nursery school and am in class as a teacher 3 and a half days a week! It’s tough but makes such a difference being on ground level. I do 1:1 interventions, swap with learning support assistants, change the children when I need to etc etc. Parents see me working with their children and appreciate it. Likewise, I think my team appreciate it and I am sure that they would appreciate you being in class too! One thing I keep hearing from others is that their SENCO is not in class enough and that they “don’t understand what it’s like”. The SENCO role is demanding and being in class is part of the job – if the workload allows it of course! Otherwise, who would plan, set targets and put in the funding applications etc etc etc?
