Your evidence needs to be ‘Assess, Plan, Do, Review’ – detailing what the school did to address their needs and what the outcome was and then what you did next and so on. If the parent wants a specialist setting then that can be difficult, (they have strict criteria, and in our area, are usually over subscribed) – and then ultimately the Provision Panel need to agree to it. But if they want another mainstream setting, it shouldn’t really be an issue. But as mentioned before you need an emergency review, include someone from the SEN team (if you can) as you and the parents will be stating that provision in your setting for this young person has broken down.
