    I work in a mainstream secondary and we have both a year 7 and year 8 class where students who struggle both academically and sometimes socially are taught English, Maths, Geography and History and character education by the same teacher. I currently teach the year 8 class. We work closely with transition staff in primary school to make sure that we have the correct students and parents are informed of the whole process. Students are not there full time and the aim is to accelerate both their academic achievements and social interactions so that they can go back into the mainstream classroom for those subjects as soon as they are ready. It is very much based on the individual student as to when we reintegrate back into a lesson. Hope this makes sense
