As a SALT I always make the work viable for staff. I am not a lover of leaving a programme to be implemented 3 times a week for 30 mins each session, and have found that alot of SALT’s don’t seem to be in touch with reality of what happens in school. I do prefer teaching staff about strategies to use with the children in the classroom so they can embed in their practice. For the children who need 1:1 or more specialist therapy, i work with these children as part of their EHCP requirements. I really don’t like that its left to staff to do a role which they are not trained in, and I believe that we should do the role we trained for.
