HI Will.
I had understood that the autism community had preferred the term ASC however the NAS indicates that ASD is more often being used as this is the formal diagnostic term (https://www.autism.org.uk/about/what-is/asd.aspx). I work with a lot of families that have children with autism and they all seem to have different preferences I am not sure there will ever be consensus. It will be interesting to see what terms the ICD-11 uses.
