I agree with all the above. Meeting regularly with TAs is important. We do 2 week cycles, half the TAs come one week for a meeting/training and the other half come the following week. This cycle works well.
I’d add that listening to the children and their families is really important too (as well as being a requirement with the SEN COP). We often make assumptions about what children need to improve without asking them what they would like to get better at and what helps them learn. Many of our children with SEND say they find the working environment too noisy, even though we are a school where the classrooms seem quiet and productive when children are working. This needs exploring more as to why they are finding the noise of the classroom difficult and how to make this better for them, but having time to do all of this is challenging for the SENCo.
