Speech and language therapist here. I agree – I like the Zones of Regulation, but more for the generic model rather than the particular exercises and stories – I feel that there are more neuro-divergent friendly approaches available.

I think it is always good to consider a pupils’ perspective – see what it is that they want to work on or understand further, work on information building and understanding of social situations, then have open discussions as to how they feel about that and how they wish to express their own unique self. I personally like “discussion-based” resources – such as Language for Behaviour and Emotions (Branagan et al).

Working in this field is really rewarding and enjoyable. I hope that it goes well 🙂
