Arguably all children should have the option of a quieter place to spend some of their breaktimes, it’s not only the neurodiverse who value peace and quiet rather than the chaotic hubbub of the canteen. Those with hearing impairments can also find noisy environments draining as it’s impossible to focus on the person you’re trying to listen to. Traditionally there would be a variety of lunchtime clubs at which various interests could be accommodated (board games? lego? book club? chess?) and a quiet group (in the library?) could be an option which doesn’t single out those with ASD who would appreciate it
