    You will be aware that the Standards and Testing Agency (STA) have very specific criteria for awarding access arrangements for KS2 SATs which can be found via the following link: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/key-stage-2-tests-access-arrangements .

    Assuming that you are referring to applications for extra time, the STA do not require reading ages or cognitive processing scores as a criterion for examination access arrangements. Writing speeds could be formally assessed using the DASH test; however, as the emphasis in the STA regulations is on teacher assessment (across all the seven specified criteria), informal writing tasks could also be used to calculate writing speed.
