    Whatever the area of need, we know that the p factor uniting all areas of need – a ‘ root cause’ is uncertainty. So my key theme would be putting in place strategies to reduce uncertainty and therefore mitigate anxiety. So – timetables ahead of time, is there an opportunity to tour the school and meet the pastoral advisor/ form teacher. I would ask the child and family how they are feeling about the transition and what they would like to know. Curriculum and expectations are much less important than creating comfort and possibly positive anticipation, What does the school offer to engage the child outside of the curriculum?
