Hi,
In primary school yes. I also try and invite any other people/professionals working with the child i.e. ELSA, 1:1 support assistant (and arrange cover for the child), family support worker etc. It is best to have as many people that work with the child/family as possible to gain a more holistic view of the child. On occasion, our head or deputy has also attended if they have too be heavily involved with the child/ family.
I know that this could be difficult in secondary but it would be good to have one or two representatives present. I am sure you already do this, but it would be great to ask all teachers/support staff to provide a short report on how the child presents in each class/environment as some children will present differently. Having as much input from those that teach and support the child will help the parents to see the support in place and how this is managed across everyone.
