Hiya

Bit of an old post but thought I could help. I’m a speech and language therapist, and one of the SEND consultants here, with experience in Selective Mutism. I would say that the best bet is to look at Wintgen and Johnson’s The Selective Mutism Resource Manual, there’s a second edition out now. There are a variety of approaches you can try from there, and it is very comprehensive. Lots of lovely techniques to try but importantly, reduce pressure and breaking down everything into smaller manageable steps.

If you look for SMIRA Facebook group, they will be able to give some advice too and there are some brilliant therapists there. Do let me know if you need any further advice.
