In my former school, we made Handwriting a part of the school culture in both primary and secondary. So we started with teachers having mentors to help with learning the Nelson cursive. I brought this idea to my new school and we started with the support teachers. Form tutors are being monitored to use the cursive handwriting and create 15 minutes daily to teach the students in secondary during their form tutor time/registration in the morning.
It seem to be a steady move towards achieving good handwriting in the school. In the SEN department we have handwriting as targets from some children and the Support staff teach by modelling and provides fine motor activities to support handwriting. Hope this helps
