I have never seen this formally diagnosed but there is a lot of crossover with ADHD. I would think that things like routines, using ZOR strategies, pre warning about changes in timetable, movements breaks, distractions , agency etc – all important, Modelling expected behaviors, Adults remaining calm and impassive, May stem from anxiety or ‘uncertainty’. Also thinking that depending on age it could be hormone related but depends how long this has been going on. Start with what impact it is having, i.e. is it affecting friendships etc.
There is a brilliant podcase called ‘ Dear Anxiety’ and another’ Dear anger’ that provides parents with model conversations when mood swings are out of control or the child is just totally dysregulated,. Poast covid we have many many, mostly younger children who experience dysregulation – the Zones are so helpful
