We don’t use IEPs at all. In big secondary schools where students have up to 18 teachers a week, they are impractical. Students already have targets with their academic progress, attendance, school expectations, extra-curricular etc. Why add more pressure on those with the highest need? We have a database with a line for each student with history of need and strategies and reasonable adjustments etc. Students with Access Arrangements do not need to be on the SEND register and do not need an IEP for their form 8. You just need to follow the JCQ rules 1 – history of need 2 – normal way of working 3 – specialist testing / EHCP / Diagnoses. Patoss do a good annually updated book with all the rules clearly written. Do you work in Abu Dhabi by any chance with Mr Davies?
