I am also in Suffolk and have experience the same big demand for referrals from parents.

Since the system moved to Barnados I have had about six go through triage and only one come back as going to assessment.

I have received a number of reasons for the referral being turned down, such as: the suspected difficulties do not appear to have a significant impact on daily functioning; no evidence of support from SES and the student needing a full cognitive assessment to rule out difficulties that may be related to learning.

I find the forms long and time consuming to complete and find this particularly frustrating when I suspect the reasons I have been given for non assessment of other students will be the same for the young person I am referring.
