I disagree that MfL staff can’t re integrate some of these student’s back into lessons as there are plenty of cases where new child relocate or change school having not studied the same language previously.
Perhaps the purpose was not to meet individual need but to give greater time to develop core skills like organisation, social communication, homework, etc?
Have you spoken to your leadership team as they should have some idea of what was happening before?
