I am also struggling.
Especially with students on the Autistic spectrum who have no filter and poor body language. They wind up staff and are very frank.
They walk out of detentions or just don’t come to school when they know they have one. Their dream day would be when all detentions are rolled into one and they have a nice quiet day in the ‘reflection’ room.
Detentions DO NOT work. We have tried social stories, and other reasonable adjustments but nothing is really working.
